I'm a licensed elementary school teacher (K - 8) with a Masters Degree in Elementary Education- with over a decade in the classroom!
I started French Quartour Kids in 2012. It was inspired by my friends at A Street Tour Named Desire, the first bicycle tour company in New Orleans. (They are FANTASTIC!!) They kept getting requests from customers wanting to bring their kids on their bike tours. At the time, I was teaching 3rd grade in a charter school- and ready for a break from the endless testing and stress.
Starting a small business did not involve much testing beyond my Tour Guide License but it's been full of challenges along the way. Ultimately, I've let the kids - and parents- guide me. Kids are creative, silly, and imaginative. They've come up with great ideas over the years. The Spooky Ghost Hunt was the brainchild of several kids on tour. I was hesitant but I'm so glad I listened to them because it's a magical experience! Parents have been great with feedback- and with the sharing of dad jokes!
In 2026, I decided to return to my home state of Massachusetts and trade in my hoop skirt for my teacher tools. I'm hoping to start kids tours in New Bedford, MA- and a ghost hunt in Edgartown, Martha's Vineyard. Stay tuned!! And Thank You!!! I am forever grateful to the families, schools, colleagues, and community support over these past 14 years. It's an unusual idea but it's been successful because of all of you!!
Chelsea- Tour Guide, Manager, & More!
Chelsea joined French Quartour Kids in 2024 while teaching full time and being a full time mom- how does she do it??
Chelsea has been a classroom teacher for 12 years and has a bunch of certifications! (TEFL, IDELT, Waldorf + an MBA and New Orleans Tour Guide license).
She's a phenomenal guide with a wealth of knowledge about New Orleans history. In addition, Chelsea recently researched and created a TEEN Ghost Tour called After Dark!! This is our nighttime tour (at 7:30) and draws on some spooky family traditions Chelsea learned growing up- as well as more ghost hunting tools and divination strategies. Keep an eye out for that tour joining our new website soon!
Jennifer - Tour Guide
Jennifer is a true “jack of all trades, master of none, though oftentimes better than a master of one.” And honestly, her collection of trades is pretty impressive.
Jennifer joined French QuarTour Kids in 2026, bringing with her an eclectic background that seems tailor-made for making history fun. She has worked as a children’s aerial circus educator, guided visitors through a car museum, and spent much of her life exploring the many different ways people learn.
Her educational background is just as varied. Jennifer holds a B.A. spanning performance, psychology, and history, a master’s degree in English and Creative Writing, and a TEFL certificate, among other training and experience. She loves bringing all of those worlds together through storytelling, creativity, and education.
Most of all, Jennifer loves working with kids and helping people discover that learning doesn’t have to look the same for everyone. She believes some of the best learning happens when you’re curious, engaged, and having enough fun that you almost forget you’re learning at all.
So, naturally, leading kids through the French Quarter while telling stories, exploring history, and investigating a ghost or two is right up her alley. She loves a good ghost story, a creative adventure, and the chance to help kids see New Orleans in a whole new way.
