What about the weather?

If we cannot run the tour because of inclement weather, we will get in touch 1.5 hours in advance and try to reschedule. If another time is not possible, we will cancel the booking and refund payment.

Rain

Tours do not run in the rain. We use weatherunderground and accuweather.com as our weather apps.

If the forecast gives a 60% chance or greater of rain during tour time, we will try to reschedule or, worst case scenario, cancel.

If thunderstorms are predicted, we will not run tours. We base judgement on forecasts given 6 hours in advance.

If it starts raining while on tour, please do not feel obligated to stay and get soaked! We'll refund tickets if you have to leave early because of the rain. I don't want anyone feeling like they have to stay if they're uncomfortable!

Temperature

We do not run tours if it is at or below 50 degrees outside.
We do not run tours if there is a heat advisory.

If you're too hot- or too cold- you can stop the tour and we'll refund tickets. Kids need to stay hydrated. We'll stop to drink water but, in the summer, bringing and drinking water is essential!

Cancellations

Plans change. Flights get cancelled. We understand that. Please give us 24 hours notice if you need to cancel for a full refund. No-shows or last minute cancellations will not be refunded. I'm sorry.

Allow time for traffic and parking.

There is free 2 hour street parking in the French Quarter along Burgundy and Dauphine, past Orleans Avenue. The surrounding neighborhoods also have free, unlimited street parking.

The street car is NOT a reliable, punctual form of transportation. It's fun but you will be late if you rely on it.

Liability

As the chaperone of the kids taking the tour, you accept responsibility for the safety and well being of yourself and the kids in your care. By taking the tour, you agree to waive any responsibility of French Quartour Kids in the event of any injuries.

We ask that kids are controlled in their movement (not walking near the levee's edge or street traffic). It's the responsibility of the chaperones to see that this is done. It's never been an issue in the past but it is worth mentioning.

Photography

Occasionally the tours will be photographed. These pictures are used in promotional materials, as background shots or images of what to expect on tours. If you would prefer not to have your kids' pictures included in anonymous promotional materials, please let me know in advance and we'll be sure to exclude them.

Feel free to take pictures- and post them to social media!

Bathrooms

Field Trip info and map.jpg

Because this is an outdoor tour and we do not have a brick and mortar shop, kids should use the bathroom before arriving to the meeting spot. Businesses in the French Quarter are generally kind about letting people use it, though buying something is encouraged.

Alternately, there are public restrooms throughout the French Quarter. They're well maintained and shockingly clean, thanks to the French Market staff.
